A deep look at God and relationships...everything teens think about most! June 20, 2010 W. Rodrigue (Thibodaux, LA United States) Theology of the Body for Teens is an awesome look at the Catholic Church's teachings on faith and sexuality which is taught in a way geared for the avareage 9th-12th grader to understand. It includes many discussion points and movie references from nearly every genre, but the heart of the program (yes, there are also DVDs, leader materials, and a parent's guide) leads the teens on a journey of self-discovery both in their faith and sexuality. It does discuss such topics as homosexuality and pornography, but not in a shameful way.
I used this (as dis the 39 other parishes in my Diocese) as the first year in our two-year Confirmation sacramental preparation.
I highly recommend that you learn more about the program and consider using it. See [...] for more info!
Excellent book February 11, 2010 K. Bossung 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a parent I want the best for my children. I believe that this book presents the truth in such a way that it engages you and lifts you up. It will help your teenager to understand the truth about their sexuality and hopefully to make the best decisions for their lives and the lives of their friends. It is right where the teenagers are and doesn't hold anything back. Get it and read it, and then give it to your teenager.
AWESOME TRUTH - PREPARE FOR THE BANQUET September 8, 2009 MK (Colorado) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We can transform our nation and our world if everyone would let this teaching fill their mind, heart and soul. Pope John Paul's Theology of the Body uses reason and faith to teach us to understand our design (male and female) and why we were created. Every teen should study this before middle school and high school, it will teach how to find real self-esteem. (Every adult should study ToB) True self esteem is tied to a right relationship with God and neighbor. This is about more than sex and chastity, it is learning to give and receive authentic love, self-giving love, centered on Christ. It is about the beauty and sacred nature of sex inside of a Sacramental, covenant marriage in where you can be fully self-giving and receive that love from another and about being open/welcoming to the new life it may create. The Catholic Church isn't prudish about sex, it regards it as sacred and something to be protected and cherished. We have a God-size hole in our heart that we are all looking to fill. We were created to love and be loved and too many people are looking to fill that emptiness with the things that lower us. Self-giving love points us toward Heaven, this book just begins to tap into the mind-blowing truths of our awesome God. Theology of the Body is the antidote for a culture that is obsessed with self-gratification (lust). To quote Christopher West, Theology of the Body teaches more than just to stay out of the dumpster, it teaches us to understand and strive for the banquet.

In an age which sees sex as an idol rather than an icon it is a welcome alternative to see human sexuality presented as what God intended it to be. It presents Pope John Paul II's "Theology of the Body" in a very positive and holistic way that teenagers can readily understand. Furthermore, this book contains good resources for the classroom or youth groups as it contains teaching strategies, stories, testimonies, group activities, questions for discussion, etc.
