Product Description
First, the bad news: your teenage years are some of the most stressful of your life. Up to 70 percent of teens say they're stressed out, and with pressure about grades at school, parents who just don't seem to get it, and friends who drive you crazy, it's no wonder. Here's the good news! If you learn a few strategies for getting stress under control now, you'll have the skills you need to deal with problems and difficult feelings that life sends your way in high school and beyond. The Stress Reduction Workbook for Teens is a collection of thirty-seven simple workbook activities that will teach you to reduce your worries using a technique called mindfulness. Mindfulness is a way to be aware of your thoughts and feelings in the present moment. You can use mindfulness when you start to feel as though things are spinning out of control, so you can stop worrying about what might happen and focus instead on what's happening now. Ready to get started? Open this workbook and try out the first activity. Soon, you'll be well on your way to developing resilience and a new kind of strength.

Professor endorses book March 29, 2010 Michael Hagerty (Berkeley, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am a professor at University of California, Davis. For the last 10 years I have been impressed with the Stress Reduction training using Mindfulness. First developed my Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at University of Massachusetts, the training has proven effective at reducing the stress levels of thousands of people around the world. Many health plans now have added a Stress Reduction course because of its proven effects at enhancing health and well-being. Now Gina Biegel has tailored this training to fit the massive stresses that teenagers face today. The book has come out of her own work with teens, and is backed up by her research in scientific journals. I highly recommend this book to every teenager and parent. I wish I had read it when I was a teen!
The Stress Reduction Workbook for Teens March 28, 2010 Christine Anne Burke (London UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Stress Reduction Workbook for Teens is a welcome and valuable addition to the field of adolescent well-being. Gina Biegel introduces Mindfulness to teens in a highly accessible, well-sequenced workbook that is firmly grounded in Mindfulness practice, theory and research. The workbook neatly weaves conceptual and factual information with experiential exercises into a format that allows teens to apply these to their own lives and lived experience. The workbook could be used effectively by young people on their own, or with the support and guidance of parents, counsellors, or teachers - Parents and professionals could learn a lot from this book too!
Stress Reduction Revisited March 18, 2010 Gail W. Obrien (Raleigh, NC, USA) This workbook is very useful as I work with at-risk teens. Its arrival was quite prompt!
Stress Reduction January 22, 2010 Brian S. Corzilius (Willits, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
How refreshing, in today's world of muti-tasking and over stimulation, to hear a call for bringing the attention to a single point. This book is a great introduction to the time-honored practice of mindfulness. The methodology could be useful to anyone but Gina Biegel has applied it to the situations, concerns and stressors that today's teens experience.
Excellent Mindfulness Resource January 21, 2010 Lee A. O'Neal (Mtn. View, CA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As a mindfulness-based psychotherapist working with adolescents and their families, I find this workbook to be an invaluable tool for teaching mindfulness to my clients. This workbook is useful in conjunction with a structured MBSR class, and can also be used alone. It encourages healthy dialogue and self-reflection and I recommend it highly for anyone working with the adolescent population.
